Today was a brilliant day for birdwatching. It started with some good birds recorded on the sea – 317 Little Gulls, 1 juvenile Arctic Tern, 1 Great Skua, 220 Razorbill. Then Steve heard and spotted a Richard’s Pipit flying over the Obs which unfortunately didn’t stay. The 2 (possibly 3) Lapland Bunting were also still present at Thornham Point, there were also some Brambling and 1 Snow Bunting  100 yards down the beach.

Then the Yellow-browed Warblers started to appear, in total there were 4 Yellow-browed Warbler reported. Two birds around the NOA and 2 around Holme Village/Redwell. There were also 2 Redstart, one at the bunker in the Dunes and 1 at the NWT entry gate and a Ring Ouzle in the dunes.

The moths today were: 4 Narrow Grey, 3 Large Yellow Underwing, 27 Lunar Underwing, 4 Feathered Ranunuclus, 2 Beet Moth, 1 Square-spot Rustic, 2 Turnip, 1 Brick, 1 Large Wainscot, 1 Beaded Chestnut

Other than looking for birds and doing the moth trap I was busy hanging up a lot of freshly washed bird bags – ready for the next ringing session. Quite a few visitors commented on the Tibetan flair the colourful bags gave the Obs.
