Lesser Whitethroat

As it was a calm morning, I opened the nets at 5:30. Unfortunately, there wasn’t much bird movement so that we shut the nets at 09:00 having caught 3 new birds: 1 Wren, 1 Cetti’s Warbler, 1 Lesser Whitethroat and 5 retraps: 1 Chiffchaff, 1 Reed Warbler, 1 Whitethroat, 2 Dunnock.

Our bird highlights for today are: 6 Sandwich Tern, 4 Whimbrel and 2 Curlew flying over the reserve, 12 Dunlin, 14 Lapwing on Broadwater.

Todays moths were: 12 Double Striped Pug, 2 Lime Speck Pug, 24 Turnip, 6 Common Grass Moth, 1 Common Pug, 8 Flounced Rustic, 2 Common Maisoner, 1 Shuttle-shaped Dart, 1 Common Rustic agg., 9 Beet Moth, 1 Delicate, 2 Large Yellow Underwing, 1 Sand Dart, 1 Aster Straw, 1 Poplar Grey, 3 Hook-tipped Grass-moth, 2 Setaceous Hebrew Character, 1 Brown Moss-moth, 1 Small Blood Vein, 1 Yellow Shell, 1 Lesser Pearl, 1 Chequered Grass-moth, 1 Garden Tiger, 1 Willow Stilt, 1 Pale Prominent.

Other insects include 2 Southern Migrant Hawker at the NWT hide, 1 Painted Lady, 1 Small Heath, 1 Peacock.
