Southern Migrant Hawker
It was a hot summer day again with strong breeze from ENE. Todays moths were:
My personal favourites were the Tree-lichen Beauty and the Iron Prominent.

Tree-lichen Beauty

Iron Prominent
Today’s bird highlights were: 2 Green Woodpecker (1 juv.), 1 Great-spotted Woodpecker, 24 Lapwing, 1 Spoonbill, 71 Redshank, 5 Dunlin, 3 Yellow Wagtail (juv,).
I also saw a stunning male Southern Migrant Hawker. Before the 21st century, there was only one confirmed record of Southern Migrant Hawker in Britain. It came from Kent in 1952. There were a few more records in 2006, before an influx in 2010 led to the first records of them breeding in England.
