It was another excellent morning for ringing so I got to the NOA at 4.45h and opened the nets. Luckily Gary helped me as we caught quite a lot of birds.

New birds were
3  Chiffchaff, 1 Long-tailed Tit, 1 Goldcrest, 2 Backcap, 5 Goldfinch, 4 Whitethroat, 2 Robin, 1 Sedge Warbler, 4 Reed Warbler, 1 Blue Tit, 2 Dunnock, 3 Great Tit, 2 Wood Pigeon

Retraps were:
1 Goldcrest, 3 Sedge Warbler, 2 Cetti’s Warbler, 1 Chiffchaff, 2 Whitethroat, 1 Reed Warbler, 1 Robin, 3 Blue Tits, 5 Long-tailed Tit, 1 Dunnock

In total: 34 birds of 14 species newly ringed and 20 birds of 10 species retrapped.

The moths today were rather sparce with 4  Cinnabar, 1 Large Yellow Underwing, 1 Commo Swift, 3 Isotrias rectifasciana, 2 Dark Arches, 2 Mottled Rustic, 2 Garden Grass Veneer, 1 The Uncertain, 1 Middle-barred Minor, 1 Shore Wainscot, 1 Common Footman, 2 Vines Rustic, 1 Agenopterix nervosa, 1 Piniphilia bifasciana, 1 Heart and Club, 1 Homoesoma sinuella.

There was also a bagworm crawling around the trap but I wasn’t able to find out what species it was.
