Swollen-thighed Beetle

It was a windy day with heavy showers interspersed with sunny spells.

The moth trap contained: 1 Dog’s Tooth, 1 Buff Tip, 1 Shuttle-shaped Dart, 1 Common Footman, 1 Light Arches, 1 Small Square Spot, 3 Mottled Rustic, 1 Bright-line Brown-eye, 3 Large Yellow Underwing, 1 Treble Line.

The bird highlights were 2 subadult Mediterranean Gulls flying over the saltmarsh at Thornham and 33 Sanderling flying over Broadwater.

There was also an Avocet chick on Broadwater which was extremely cute and very ungainly (on the photo left of the muddy bank , opposite the adult)

And we found a pair of Swollen-thighed Beetle in a poppy flower at the NWT visitor centre.
