Obs sunrise
Another lovely sunny day at the Obs. I ambitiously opened the nets early this morning, however we only caught 7 birds. These were 1 new Greenfinch, 2 retrap Blue Tits, and a single retrap Blackbird, Dunnock, Robin and Coal Tit.
There has been over a thousand Pink Feet passing by on the sea and inland today, it has also been a good day for Lapwing movements with a count of 410 moving over the grazing marsh. Recorded on the beach and sea today were: 125 Oystercatchers, 60 Knot, 7 Grey Plover, 24 Ringed Plover, 34 Redshank, 17 Curlew, 28 Sanderling, 6 Dunlin, 6 Bar-tailed Godwit, 105 Brent Geese, 4 Eider, 199 Wigeon, 5 Great Crested Grebes and 3 Shelduck.
Around the Obs the highlights so far have been: a pair of Crossbills in the Pines, 1 Great White Egret, 1 Barn Owl, 4 Siskins, 8 Greenfinch and 3 Water Rails being vocal first thing!
