We have had a MEGA ringing day at Holme, with 113 birds caught of 24 species: 1 Pallas’s Leafwarbler (image below), 2 Firecrests (image below), 1 Water Pipit (image below), 7 Goldcrests, 1 Wren, 1 Chiffchaff, 7 Cetti’s Warbler, 13 Robins, 2 Coal Tits, 10 Blue Tits, 1 Chaffinch, 12 Reed Bunting, 4 Meadow Pipits, 8 Goldfinch, 1 Linnet, 1 Stonechat, 1 Bearded Tit, 6 Greenfinch, 1 Song Thrush, 1 Redwing and 17 Blackbirds. For retraps we had 1 Great Tit, 3 Blue Tits, 1 Blackcap, 7 Robins, 12 Wren, 1 Dunnock and 1 Cetti’s Warbler.

With all the ringing we didn’t have much time for birding but highlights seen around the reserve include: 1 Spotted Flycatcher, 1 Yellow-browed Warbler, 2 Brambling, 5 Crossbills, 1 Mistle Thrush, 5 Fieldfare, 10000+ Starlings, 1 Kingfisher, 5 Water Rail, 2 Cattle Egrets, 2 Great White Egrets, 2 Golden Eye, 4 Tufted Ducks and 3 drake Pintail.
