There have been a few birds seen around the reserve, on the sea and at Thornham harbour today, highlights include: 32 Crossbills, 6 Pintail, 8 Tufted Ducks, 11 Shelduck, 120 Brent Geese, 500 Pink Feet, 218 Wigeon, 85 Teal, 28 Mallard, 8 Gadwall, 8 Shoveler, 4 Cattle Egret, 6 Little Egrets, 2 Spoonbills, 7 Common Scoter, 8 Great Crested Grebes, 2 Red-breasted Mergansers, 280 Oystercatchers, 1 Grey Plover, 25 Curlew, 12 Bar-tailed Godwit, 185 Knot, 18 Sanderling, 15 Redshank, 1 Firecrest (image below), 3 Blackcaps (image below), 6 Bearded Tits, 45 Meadow Pipits, 48 Linnets, 24 Chaffinch, 1 Mistle Thrush, 25 Blackbirds and 6 Redwing.

We opened a few nets between rain showers and caught 8 birds: 3 Meadow Pipits, 1 Blue Tit, 2 Great Tits, 1 Goldcrest and 1 retrap Blue Tit.
In the moth trap today we had 5 Large Wainscot, 6 Rusty-dot Pearl, 1 Chestnut, 2 Beaded Chestnut, 1 Green-brindled Crescent, 1 Blastobasis lacticolella, 1 Merveille du Jour, 2 Large Yellow Underwing, 1 Rush Veneer, 2 Turnip Moth and 1 Pearly Underwing.
