Gold Spot
Another lovely sunny autumnal day. Quality over quantity in for ringing today with 2 Goldcrest, 2 Wren, 8 Blackcap, 1 Pied Wagtail (did not expect that!), 1 Cetti’s Warbler, 1 Dunnock, 1 Robin, 1 Blue Tit and a surprise Kestrel! Although they’re common visitors on the reserve they are not often caught in a mist net as they are very good at getting out!
Kestrel
It was generally quiet around the reserve. A Pied Flycatcher was seen in the morning and a Black-throated Diver was on the sea late afternoon. Wigeon, Teal and Shoveler were on the Broadwater today, and in the past few days there has also been 3 Pintail.
Over 20 species in the moth traps today with 1 Rush Veneer, 2 Beaded Chestnut, 2 Deep Brown Dart, 2 White Point, 2 Broad-bordered Yellow Underwing, 2 Setaceous Hebrew Character, 3 Square Spot Rustic, 2 E. angustea, 2 Gold Spot, 2 Turnip, 1 Common Plume, 1 Shore Wainscot, 1 Large Wainscot, 2 Rusty Dot Pearl, 1 Feathered Ranunculus, 2 Black Rustic, 1 Red-Green Carpet, 2 Lesser Yellow Underwing, 61 Large Yellow Underwing and 75 Lunar Underwing.
