Another mostly overcast day with light northeasterlies. I focussed on ringing again, however it was much quieter with only 11 birds caught including 2 new Chiffchaff and 1 Coal Tit, and for retraps 1 Reed Warbler, 1 Cetti’s Warbler, 4 Blue Tit, 1 Dunnock and 1 Wren.

There was a couple of Dunlin on the car park pools along with the usual Redshank and Black-tailed Godwit, and a Common Sandpiper. I heard Whimbrel frequently this morning and had one flying over the pines towards the beach. A Peregrine was also reported in the morning.

Quieter in the moth traps today with 2 Pale Eggar, 15 Common Wainscot, 10 Vines Rustic, 12 Archer’s Dart, 5 Dingy Footman, 5 White Point, 8 Flounced Rustic, 3 Large Yellow Underwing, 1 Lesser Broad-bordered Yellow Underwing, 3 Shuttle-shaped Dart, 2 Turnip, 3 Straw Underwing, 3 Nutmeg, 5 Setaceous Hebrew Character, 1 Cloaked Minor, 1 Tawny Speckled Pug, 3 Drinker, 1 Fern, 2 Yellowtail, 3 Flame Shoulder, 1 Frosted Orange and 2 Willow Beauty. The Hummingbird Hawk Moth was back again on the Buddleia.
