Walsey Hills
A cloudy start and gentle NE wind meant good conditions for ringing today. I focussed on ringing at Walsey Hills with 47 birds captured, 45 new and 2 retraps. The bulk of the birds caught were juvenile Blue Tit with 29 (who knew there could be so many individual Blue Tit visiting a feeder!). I also caught 3 Chiffchaff, 1 Coal Tit, 1 Whitethroat, 1 Lesser Whitethroat, 6 Dunnock, 3 Great Tit, 2 Greenfinch and 1 Blackbird. So quiet on the migrants front, so far…
Coal Tit
There was a Green Sandpiper on Snipe’s Marsh feeding along the muddy edge throughout the day and I had a Wheatear along the southern public footpath from Walsey.
There were two Willow Emerald Damselfly along the top of the path from the hide (through the Gorse), and quite a few young Common Lizard on the move on the paths!
