Rosy Rustic
A very hot day and a reasonably brisk SW/WSW wind and therefore too windy for ringing. No sign of the Pied Flycatcher today in the Pines unfortunately. There were 56 Black-tailed Godwit on the car park pools.
Reasonably low diversity in the moth traps today, however some big numbers with 127 Setaceous Hebrew Character and 88 Common Wainscot!! There was also 1 Common Masoner, 12 Turnip, 18 Nutmeg, 5 White Point, 1 Bright-line Brown-eye, 10 Vine’s Rustic, 5 Flounced Rustic, 7 Archer’s Dart, 11 Flame Shoulder, 1 Southern Wainscot, 1 Sharp Angled Peacock, 3 Shuttle Shaped Dart, 1 Uncertain/Rustic agg., 4 Lesser BB Yellow Underwing, 2 Mouse Moth, 7 Large Yellow Underwing, 2 Straw Underwing, 1 Reed Dagger, 1 Agapeta hemana, 1 Rosy Rustic and 1 Ermine agg.
Busy busy busy!
There were Common Blue and Small Copper in the dunes, and lots of Wall Brown around on the paths.
Small Copper today – apparently old animal poo is a good sunbathing spot..
