We opened the nets in the morning hoping the north-easterly wind had brought some nice birds. The best birds we caught were 1 Redpoll and 2 Greenfinches.

Other bird highlights were: in total 2 Redpoll, 5 Woodcock, 1 Blackcap, 1 Barn Owl and 1 Waxwing, 2 Whooper Swan (over Holme village), 2 Merlin (coming in off the sea), 1 Long-tailed Duck and 3 Velvet Scoter on the sea, 1 Barnacle Goose and 5 White-fronted Goose on marshes.

The Waxwing was drinking from a puddle on the track to the NOA but unfortunately, it didn’t stay around and I watched it fly towards Holme village.

In the moth trap were 2 Rusty Dot Pearl, 3 Large Yellow Underwing and 3 Large Wainscot
