Female Firecrest

It was a lovely warm and calm day so we opened the nets at 6:30.

The ringing session was successful and our highlights were 2 Firecrest, 1 male (ringed yesterday) and one female.

Other bird highlights were 1 Ring Ouzel at NWT visitor centre, 8 Shore Lark at Gore Point, 1 Slavonian Grebe and 1 Red-necked Grebe on the sea.

The moth trap contained: 3 Rusty Dot Pearl, 1 Yellow-Line Quaker, 6 Large Wainscot, 2 Narrow-winged Grey, 1 Red Green Carpet, 1 Rush Veneer, 1 November agg.

The butterflies like the warm weather and we recorded: 1 Painted Lady, 1 Large White, 2 Clouded Yellow, 1 Brimstone, 2 Red Admiral, 2 Peacock, also lots of different species of shield bug and hundreds of ladybirds.
