Another day of strong south westerlies meant another day of seawatching and no migrants! The highlight was several Arctic Skuas harassing the Terns offshore and showing very well. We had 17 Pink-footed Geese coming in off, 12 Common Scoter, 2 Great Crested Grebe, 1 Razorbill, 1 Red-throated Diver, 41 Gannet, 4 Swallow with good numbers of terns with 30 Common/Arctic Tern, 4 Common Tern and 176 Sandwich Tern. There was Osprey reported over grazing marsh but despite searching around the core Observatory area we couldn’t find any migrants. At Thornham there was a really good count of 28 Spoonbill. So with it being quite a quiet day we turned our attention to doing some more practical management and continuing our clear out at the Obs. 

Moths were unsurprisingly quiet this morning after the very stormy conditions overnight. We had 1 Yellowtail, 9 Large Yellow Underwing, 6 Square Spot Rustic, 2 Black Rustic, 1 Bright-line Brown-eye, Vine’s Rustic, 1 Shore Wainscot, 2 Setacous Hebrew Character, 3 Lunar Underwing, 1 Deep Brown Dart and 1 Silver-Y.
