It was a cool and drizzly morning which very quickly turned warm again.

Todays moths were: 1 Garden Tiger, 23 Archer’s Dart, 6 Sharp-angled Peacock, 1 Treble-bar, 2 Lime-speck Pug, 2 Latticed Heath, 2 Garden Pebble, 4 Common Grass Moth, 1 Garden Rose Tortrix, 1 White-shouldered House Moth, 9 Small Mottled Willow, 3 Shuttle-shaped Dart, 28 Turnip, 9 Flounced Rustic, 7 Large Yellow Underwing, 1 Brass Y, 1 Broad-bordered Yellow Underwing, 12 Setaceous Hebrew Character, 1 Common Wainscot, 3 Square-spot Rustic, 1 Single Dotted Wave, 1 Rosy Rustic, 3 Knot Grass, 1 Fern, 8 Vine’s Rustic, 3 Common Maisoner, 3 Straw Underwing, 5 Glenchiidae indent., 1 Hook-tipped Grass Moth, 1 Flame Shoulder, 2 Yellow-spotted Tortrix, 1 Dotted Fan-foot, 1 Cloaked Minor, 1 Eyed Hawk Moth, 1 Brimstone Moth, 1 Nutmeg, 2 Black-fronted Straw, 1 White Point, 2 Noctua janthe/janthina, 1 Diamond-backed Moth, 1 Dingy Footman, 1 Common Groundling, 1 Bright-line Brown-eye, 1 Six-striped Rustic.

Todays bird highlights were 2 Little Grebe, 12 Dunlin, 11 Redshank and 1 Spoonbill on Broadwater, 1 Great-spotted Woodpecker in the pines. 1 Green Sandpiper flying over and 1 Whimbrel, 3 Curlew, 7 Black-tailed Godwit, 2 Turnstone, 1 Common Gull, 1 Lesser Black-backed Gull on the beach. One of the Curlews had a yellow flag with the letters BN on it. It’s a UK ringed bird but I don’t yet know the details.
