From Gambia to Pensthorpe – Reed Warbler Ringing recovery
for as little as 14p per day.
6th August 2026

A juvenile Reed Warbler ringed at Kartong Bird Observatory, The Gambia, on the 27th November 2025 was recaught during one of our routine CES sessions at Pensthorpe on 18th July 2026. This bird has travelled a distance of 4689km, amazing!
The CES at Pensthorpe has been running for a number of years now and is all run and organised by a dedicated team of volunteers. A really cool record, well done to everyone involved!
