For the first time in weeks we were wearing jumpers this morning and during the moth identification session it actually rained for about 10 minutes. Today’s moths were:

1 Agapeta hamana, 2 Phycitodes binaevella, 1 Agriphila straminella, 1 Pyrausta despicata, 10 Archer’s Dart, 1 Rush Veneer, 39 Beet Moth, 1 Rusty-dot Pearl, 2 Blastobasis adustella, 1 Sand Dart, 3 Bryotropha terella, 1 Setaceous Hebrew Character, 1 Chilo phragmitella, 2 Shaded Broad-bar, 1 Coleophora agg., 2 Sharp-angeld Peacock, 1 Common Carpet, 2 Shuttle-shaped Dart, 2 Coronet, 1 Small Ermine agg., 1 Diamond-back Moth, 6 Small Mottled Willow, 1 Dingy Footman, 1 Small Rivulet, 1 Drinker, 14 Turnip Moth, 2 Eudonia mercurella, 1 Vine’s Rustic, 1 Fern, 1 White-line Dart, 1 Flame Shoulder, 1 White Point, 1 Flounced Rustic, 1 Pediasa contaminella, 1 Helcystogramma rufescens, 1 Homoesoma nebualla, 1 Large Yellow Underwing, 1 Latticed Heath, 1 Least Yellow Underwing, 3 Lesser Broad-bordered Yellow Underwing, 1 Light Brown Apple Moth, 1 Lime-speck Pug, 1 Lobesia abscisana, 4 Nutmeg

Furthermore we recorded: 1  Painted Lady, 2 Small White, 1 Large White, 5 Gatekeeper, 1 Speckled Wood and 1 Wall.

Our bird highlights were mainly at Thornham: 115 Curlew, 200 Sandwich Tern, 210 Oystercatcher, 3 Spoonbill, 25 Black-tailed Godwit and 120 Linnet. On Broadwater were 72 Redshank, 25 Lapwing, 1 Spoonbill and 3 Little Grebe.
