Tufted Oak Knot-horn
Another really hot day at the Obs, reaching close to 30 degrees. First thing there was a Great Spotted Woodpecker in the pines – one has been hanging around for the last week or so being seen around the Obs and also in the dunes. There was a Tufted Duck back on the Broadwater. The Swallow chicks in the hide have fledged from the nest cup but are still sitting in the hide being fed by their parents.
Moths again were busy with the highlight being a second Tufted Oak Knot-horn, only our second record for the reserve with the first being a couple weeks ago on the 30th June! Other highlights included 1 Tawny Wave, 1 Mouse Moth, 1 Small Scallop and 4 Dun-bar.
