Pine Hawk-moth

After the very hot days it was lovely to have a bit of a breeze and lower temperatures.

The moth trap had caught a good number of moths including 4 Hawk moths, even though it had been windy during the night:

7 Brown Tail, 16 Garden Grass-Veneer, 1 Catopria pinella, 4 Piniphilia bifasciana, 10 Cnephasia spec., 1 Scarlet Tiger, 23 Common Footman, 1 Sharp-angled Peacock, 3 Willow beauty, 3 Buff Ermine, 2 Heart and Dart, 2 Riband Wave, 5 Dark Arches, 1 Poplar Hawk-moth, 4 Heart and Club, 8 Large-yellow Underwing, 1 Silver Y, 6 The Uncertain, 1 Least Carpet, 1 Eyed Hawk-moth, 1 Eudonia delunella, 2 Rosy Footman, 2 Broad-bordered Yellow Underwing, 2 Lozotaeniodes Formosa, 1 Drinker, 1 The Rustic, 1 Mottled Rudstic, 1 Vitula bivella, 1 Elephant Hawl-moth, 3 Haworth’s Pug, 1 Noctua janthe/janthina agg., 1 Eana incanana, 2 Eudonia lacustrata, 1 Pine Hawk-moth, 1 Garden Grey, 2 Sand Dart, 1 Large Pale Masoner, 1 Cnephasia incertana, 1 Striped Wainscot.

Today’s butterflies and other insects which I could identify (there were many more):

5 Large White, 12 White sp., 4 Painted Lady, 20 Meadow Brown, 2 Admiral, 2 Peacock, 1 Large Skipper, 1 Small Tortoiseshell, 2 Gatekeeper, 2 Small Heath, 2 Essex Skippers, 1 Ruddy Darter, 1 Black-tailed Skimmer.

The bird highlights were 4 Spoonbill, 25 Lapwing incl. juveniles and 3 Redshank also incl. juveniles on Broadwater, furthermore 2 Marsh Harrier of which one was a juvenile.
