Cranes – Birgitta Bueche
It was a much warmer day than yesterday reaching 27 degrees but it was also much windier with an ESE wind! The highlight of the day was two Crane, which flew over the grazing marsh and went east towards Thornham and were later seen over Titchwell which was lovely to see! The Little Tern were back over the Broadwater again feeding for most of the day.
It was very quiet for moths compared to yesterday with only 2 Common Wainscot, 3 Treble Lines and 1 Cinnabar. We had a very exciting day flying moth called a Burnet Companion spotted by Bee in the dunes, I think it’s a first for the reserve!

We had a few butterflies on the wing with Common Blue, Painted Lady, Small Heath and Red Admiral. We had Azure Damselfly, Four-spotted Chaser and Broad-bodied Chaser around our ponds.
