Linnet – Liz Dack
It was a much cooler day at the Obs (weather station showing 18.5 degrees, much chillier compared to the 32.2 degrees yesterday) and much much windier with a brisk ENE wind! There were 3 Spoonbill on the Broadwater and a lovely Little Tern and Common Tern up and down fishing most of the day.
The moth traps had some good variety in again with 1 The Shark, 1 Common Pug, 1 Clay Triple Lines, 1 Maiden’s Blush, 1 Garden Pebble, 1 White Ermine, 4 Treble Lines, 3 Common Wainscot, 1 Fern, 3 Mottled Rustic, 3 Turnip Moth, 1 Silver Y, 2 Setaceous Hebrew Character, 2 Large Yellow Underwing, 1 Beet Moth, 1 Dog’s Tooth, 2 Vine’s Rustic, 3 Shuttle-shaped Dart, 1 Sand Dart, 1 Puss Moth, 1 Cinnabar, 1 Buff Tip, 1 Small Waved Umber and 1 Bryotropha terrella. As it was our Wednesday moth morning we were also treated to some lovely moths from other peoples gardens too! It was pretty quiet otherwise for insects with the highlight being a lovely Painted Lady.
