After a chilly start to the morning, it became warm and sunny in the afternoon. The moth trap and the butterfly sightings confirmed this. Moth highlights were 1 Poplar Hawk Moth, 1 Silver Y, 1 Garden Pebble, 1 Peppered Moth and 1 Brimstone Moth.

Butterflies and moths seen around the reserve during the day include: 1 Brimstone, 2 Speckled Wood, 2 Brown Argus, 8 Common Blue, 2 Small Copper, 10 Wall, 4 Small White, 2 Red Admiral, 2 Painted Lady, 5 Small Heath, 1 Yellow Shell, 1 Latticed Heath. There were also 2 Broad-bodied Chaser.

Today’s bird sightings included 1 Spoonbill and 3 Common Tern and 3 Coot chicks on Broadwater, 7 Sandwich Tern, 9 Little Tern, 2 Kittiwake, 4 Med Gull on the sea.
