male Ruff
It was a chilly and very wet morning and according to our weather station the temperature during the night had dropped to 0°C at 2:43 am.
Today’s Highlights: 1 Spoonbill on Broadwater and 1 Cuckoo calling, 2 Ruff, a female type and a male in stunning breeding plumage, on Redwell pool which I managed to digiscope. Lots of Swifts, Swallows, Sand and House Martin feeding over the grazing marshes.
The moth trap contained 1 Large Yellow Underwing, 1 Light-brown Apple Moth, 2 Turnip and 3 Treble Lines. Once it stopped raining there were also some butterflies about: 2 Wall, 1 Small Heath and 1 White sp.
