Painted Lady – Shannon Clifford
There was quite a strong westerly at the Obs today, with some showers in the afternoon. There were 2 Common Sandpiper on the Broadwater and a Spoonbill. A Cuckoo was in the dunes which was flying low across the dunes before periodically sitting in the scrub to sing. At Thornham it was pretty quiet, however it was nice to see the Shelducklings surviving and the first Coot chicks of the year. There was a steady trickle of feeding Hirundines with Swift, House Martin, Swallow and Sand Martin.

We had 3 Vine’s Rustic, 1 Setaceous Hebrew Character, 1 Large Yellow Underwing, 1 Common Wainscot and 1 Muslin in the moth traps today. There were a few Painted Lady around the Tamarisk which was lovely to see!
