It was a pretty overcast breezy day, but with no rain at all after the forecast suggested we might finally get some! There was 4 Fieldfare, 2 Wheatear and 1 male Redstart in the dunes. The passage of Swallow continued today with 302 Swallow passing west, including 20 Sand Martin and 20 House Martin. We also finally had our first Swift with 18 passing west, great to have them back again screeching over the grazing marsh!

Two Spoonbill were in front of the car park hide and a Bittern also flew over the marsh. There were 2 Cuckoo (two males) causing chaos in front of the Obs, perching in the pines and along the Broadwater singing for most of the day. Seamus Griffin got a fantastic picture of one with an unhappy Meadow Pipit! There were 8 Yellow Wag recorded, 6 in one of the NWT pools and 2 overhead. Two Common Sandpiper were at Redwell.

It was a pretty disappointing moth catch today with only 3 Pine Beauty, 1 Small Elephant Hawk, Shuttle Shaped Dart, 1 White Ermine and Muslin.

The Brown Argus were showing well today, along with more Painted Lady, Small Copper, Small Heath, Red Admiral, Peacock and Wall Brown. There was a couple Large Red Damselfy.
