Bee and I went across to Walsey this morning to show her the site as with such a strong easterly it wasn’t suitable conditions for ringing unfortunately. We were treated to at least 10 Green Longhorn moths around the reserve which were fluttering around together and then landing on the bramble.

Back at the Obs the male Ring Ouzel was still in the dunes this morning along with 6 Wheatear. The Cuckoo was showing well between the Obs and the dunes. A Spoonbill flew east from the car park pools in the afternoon.

We had a fun but challenging time watching Small Copper appear to be ovipositing outside the Obs and spent ages looking for an egg but no such luck yet so we need to keep looking! We had our first Small Heath of the year on the path. There were lots of Wall Brown and Peacock on the wing today. There were at least 6 Smooth Newt around the edge of the pond.

A few more species in the moth traps today with 3 Muslin, 2 Northern Drab, 1 Turnip, 1 Streamer, 1 Hebrew Character and 2 Shuttle Shaped Dart.
