White Satin

A cooler start today, but turning very hot late afternoon reaching 30 degrees. First thing there were five Spoonbill all together on the Broad Water up towards the Obs building. The Green Sandpipers have been showing really well up and down the Broad Water recently and today there was 3 recorded.

The moth traps were busy today with 164 of 51 species including 1 Kent Black Arches, 4 Sand Dart, 18 Brown Tail, 1 Gromwell Ermine, 7 Ermine agg., 8 Common Footman, 5 Cnephasia agg., 20 Garden Grass Moth, 5 Buff Tip, 1 Nutmeg, 6 Scarce Footman, 1 Eudonia lacustrata, 3 Marbled Minor agg., 3 Pine Marble, 1 Fan Foot, 1 Barred Straw, 1 Blackneck, 12 Uncertain agg., 6 Smoky Wainscot, 9 Mottled Rustic, 1 Dwarf Cream Wave, 2 Buff Ermine, 2 Haworth’s Pug, 1 Fleabane Pearl, 6 Dark Arches, 2 Swallowtail, 1 Hedya salicella, 1 Fen Wainscot, 4 Heart and Club, 6 Large Yellow Underwing, 1 Corn Borer, 1 Silky Wainscot, 1 Clay, 1 White Satin, 1 Willow Beauty, 3 Riband Wave, 1 Mottled Beauty, 1 Flame, 1 Small Emerald, 1 Striped Wainscot, 1 Miller, 2 Pallid Grey, 1 Lyme Grass, 1 Rosy Footman, 1 Mother of Pearl, 1 Catoptria pinella, and 5 species of Hawk Moth, with 1 Privet Hawk, 1 Eyed Hawk, 1 Elephant Hawk, 1 Pine Hawk and 1 Small Elephant Hawk.

There were more Gatekeeper, Ringlet and Small Skipper on the wing today along with good numbers of Large/Small Whites and Meadow Brown.

Norfolk Night Heron ad Cley NWT again flew to North Foreland Wood at 6.24am c52.9543,1.0638. Park at 52.9544,1.0567
