Giant Water Veneer
Another really hot day at the Observatory, but a nice breeze which stopped it feeling too hot. There was at least 50 Swift all feeding together over the grazing marsh in the afternoon which was lovely to see. The two Spoonbill were still around, up and down on the Broad Water. A Hobby was also reported hunting over the grazing marsh.
On the sea reported today, there was 2 surprise Puffin, 50 Common Scoter, 2 adult Kittiwake, 4 Little Tern, 10 Common Tern, 100 Sandwich Tern, 2 Great-crested Grebe on the sea, 1 summer plumaged Red-throated Diver, 1 Manx Shearwater, 20 Gannet and a Little Gull.
A busy moth trap today with 3 Middle Barred Minor, 4 Pine Marble, 1 Cnephasia agg., 1 Marbled Orchard Tortrix, 4 Cinnabar, 2 Common Footman, 7 Mottled Rustic, 2 Large Pale Masoner, 3 Uncertain agg., 1 Fern, 1 White Ermine, 1 Scoparia ambigualis, 1 Flame Shoulder, 1 Sand Dart, 1 Heart and Dart, 5 Garden Grass Veneer, 2 Heart and Club, 1 Giant Water Veneer, 1 Single Dotted Wave, 1 Sharp Angled Peacock, 1 Straw Dot, 1 Bordered White, 1 Lime Speck Pug, 1 Gromwell Ermine, 1 Bramble Shoot Moth, 1 Hoary Tortrix, 1 Twin-barred Knot Horn, 1 Pearl Grass Moth and 1 Banded Hedge Grey.
