Herald
A very early start with good weather conditions (no wind!) for ringing this morning, but it was very, very quiet. Only 11 birds caught with all nets open, with 7 out of the 11 being retraps. Generally, a very quiet day bird wise in the wider recording area. A Water Rail was squealing from the Broadwater. No sign of the Black Redstart today so far.
In the moth traps were 34 individuals of 5 species, including 24 Hebrew Character, 6 Clouded Drab, 2 Small Quaker, 1 Common Quaker and the highlight of the morning, a Herald! Two Brimstone and one Peacock were doing the rounds in the sun.
