Strong northerlies produced some exciting seabirds with 35 Common Scoter, 2 Fulmars, a Sooty Shearwater west, 11 Manx Shearwaters, 29 Gannets, 4 Great Crested Grebes, 2 Pom Skuas, 17 Arctics, 3 Bonxies, a Black Tern, 3 Sandwich Terns, a Kittiwake and a juvenile Sabine’s Gull west.

Passerines were sheltering during the day but Lesser Whitethroat and Garden Warbler were noted with the tit flock. Seven Pink-footed Geese flew east over the grazing marshes.

In the moth traps, 36 Large Yellow Underwings, a Small Mottled Willow, Lesser Yellow Underwing, 4 Square-spot Rustics, 4 Setaceous Hebrew Characters, a Large Wainscot, 3 Vine’s Rustics, a Yellow Belle, a Light Emerald, Dark-barred Twin-spot Carpet, Willow Beauty, 2 Frosted Oranges, a Delicate, Gold Spot, Lesser Broad Bordered Yellow Underwing, 3 Flounced Rustics, a Rush Veneer, Broad Bordered Yellow Underwing, 2 Small Square Spots, a Smoky Wainscot, Turnip, White Point and Dark Sword-grass. A superb Convolvulus Hawk Moth was also caught, but soon vanished across the marshes on release!
