An Icterine Warbler was seen in the silver birch near the Richardson Hide about 12.50, but remained elusive. A major movement of autumn migrants included 20+ Chiffchaffs, 10+ Willow Warblers, 3 Blackcaps, 3 Garden Warblers, 6 Lesser Whitethroats, 3 Whitethroats, a Reed Warbler, 10+ Spotted Flycatchers, 8 Pied Flycatchers, 8 Redstarts, 3 Whinchats, 2 Stonechats, 32 Wheatears, Grey Wagtail and Tree Pipit. Also of interest were 2 Garganey on the NWT pools, a Pintail, Common and Green Sandpiper. On the sea 41 Common Scoters, a Red-throated Diver in summer plumage, 15 Gannets, 9 Great Crested Grebes, an Arctic Skua, 5 Little Terns, 25 Sandwich Terns, a Common Tern and a Kittiwake were recorded.
In the moth traps 5 Flounced Rustics, 2 Frosted Oranges, a Coronet, a Fern, 2 Willow Beauties, a Green Carpet, Dingy Footman, Canary-shouldered Thorn, a Brimstone, 8 Setaceous Hebrew Characters, an Archer’s Dart, 6 Large Yellow Underwings, 2 White Points, a Turnip, Flame Shoulder, 2 Square-spot Rustics, a Red Underwing, Vine’s Rustic, a Common Wainscot and a Smoky Wainscot.
