A quiet day at the obs with a northerly not bringing much in the way of passerines as of yet. However, good numbers of Swallows and House Martin have been over the pines. A morning sea watch today was more productive and saw 13 Wigeon, 106 Teal, 72 Common Scoter, 2 Red-throated Diver, 2 Great Crested Grebe, 2 Fulmar, 93 Gannet, 17 Cormorant, 5 Arctic Skua, 7 Black-headed Gull, 4 Great Black-backed Gull, 32 Sandwich Tern, 1 Whimbrel and 2 Grey Plover. Two Sooty Shearwater were also reported.
It’s been quiet insect wise with the windier and cooler conditions with Common Darter, Migrant Hawker, Red Admiral and Large White. In the moth traps today included 2 Chinese Character, 1 Willow Beauty, 3 Flounced Rustic, 1 Dingy Footman, 1 Canary Shouldered Thorn, 1 Snout, 1 Silver Y, 5 Square Spot Rustic, 1 Rosy Rustic, 8 Setaceous Hebrew Character, 6 Large Yellow Underwing, 1 Broad Bordered Yellow Underwing, 1 Lesser Broad Bordered Yellow Underwing, 2 Archers Dart, 1 Vines Rustic, 1 White Point, 3 Small Square Spot, 1 Common Marbled Carpet, 1 Large Wainscot, 1 Common Wainscot, 1 Frosted Orange, 1 Flame Shoulder, 1 Centre Barred Sallow and 1 Latticed Heath.
