Brown Argus Seamus Griffin

The White-rumped Sandpiper was showing on the NWT reserve in the morning and 6 Spoonbills, 3 Whimbrel, 4 Black-tailed Godwits, a Dunlin, 2 Common Sandpipers, a Green Sandpiper, 2 Greenshank, 4 Redshank and 2 Snipe were also of interest. Two Pied Flycatchers were on the north side of the pines early afternoon but elusive.

In the moth traps a Pale Eggar, 2 Burnished Brass, a Latticed Heath, 3 Lime-speck Pugs, a Least Carpet, a Coronet, a Dusky Sallow, 3 Lesser Broad Bordered Yellow Underwings, a Brown-veined Wainscot, 4 Green Carpets, 6 Flounced Rustics, 11 Square-spot Rustics, 3 Centre-barred Sallows, a Dusky Thorn, 4 Common Wainscots, 13 Vine’s Rustics, 15 Archer’s Darts, 2 Common Carpets, 20 Large Yellow Underwings, 15 Smoky Wainscots, a Yellow Belle, Turnip, Dark Sword-grass, 3 White Points, 18 Flame Shoulders, a Silver Y, 5 Small Square-Spots, 22 Setaceous Hebrew Characters, a Yellow Shell, 3 Willow Beauties, 2 White-line Darts, an Orange Swift, a Mouse Moth, Frosted Orange, Dark Arches and an Angle-barred Pug.

Butterflies included 2 Small Heaths, 2 Common Blues, 2 Brown Argus (pictured, by Seamus Griffin), 12 Red Admirals, a Wall, Large and Small Whites and a Small Tortoiseshell.

Dragonflies included Migrant and Southern Hawker, Emperor, Ruddy and Common Darter and Willow Emerald Damselfly.
