Migrant Hawker

On the sea today 4 Common Scoters, 2 Fulmars, 7 Gannets, a Great Crested Grebe, 2 Arctic Skuas, 6 Little Terns, 124 Sandwich Terns and 86 Common Terns were counted. Around the Broadwater 3 Great White Egrets, 2 Black-tailed Godwits, a Greenshank, 2 Green Sandpipers and a Common Sandpiper were counted, with a Lesser Whitethroat, 2 Cetti’s Warblers, a Sedge and 2 Reed Warblers also noted.

In the moth traps a Yellow Shell, Small Blood-vein, 11 Scarce Footmen, 3 Lesser Broad-bordered Yellow Underwings, 19 Garden Tigers, 4 Drinkers, 2 Sharp-angled Peacocks, 8 Cloaked Minors, 14 Flame Shoulders, 2 Ruby Tigers, Small Waved Umber, 2 Straw Dots, 2 Common Rustics, 5 Large Yellow Underwings, a Dark Arches, 4 Rustics, 5 Shuttle-shaped Darts, 3 Dusky Sallows, 5 Dingy Footmen, a Silver Y, 2 Green Carpets, a Shaded Broad-bar, 2 Tree-lichen Beauties, 4 Yellow Tails, 2 Lime-speck Pugs, a Riband Wave, 3 Setaceous Hebrew Characters, 2 Knot Grass, a Broad Bordered Yellow Underwing, 3 Southern Wainscots, a Turnip, 2 Straw Underwings, a Rosy Minor, 3 Smoky Wainscots, a Marbled Clover, Flounced Rustic, 2 Webb’s Wainscots, True Lover’s Knot, Small Wainscot, Single Dotted Wave, Archer’s Dart, Coxcomb Prominent and Dunbar were caught.

Butterflies included Speckled Wood, Gatekeeper, Wall, Red Admiral, Peacock and Large White, and a Migrant Hawker dragonfly was caught in the moth trap.
