An Osprey was in Thornham Harbour and 8+ Spoonbills were on the Broadwater together with 2 Great White Egrets. Also of interest were 6 Whimbrel, 37 Curlew, 4 Snipe, a Barn Owl, and 30 Sand Martins and 40 House Martins were feeding low during the morning.

Moth trapping produced 18 Garden Tigers, 5 Single Dotted Waves, 11 Cloaked Minors, 10 Yellow Tails, a Willow Beauty, Knot Grass, 4 Sharp-angled Peacocks, 2 Silver Ys, 2 Small Waved Umbers, a Lime-speck Pug, 3 Common Carpets, 5 Drinkers, 15 Ruby Tigers, 8 Rustics, a Saltmarsh Plume, 17 Scarce Footmen, 7 Dingy Footmen, 2 Shaded Broad-bars, a Lesser Broad Bordered Yellow Underwing, 2 Large Yellow Underwings, 2 Small Fan-footed Waves, 3 Rosy Minors, a Swallow Prominent, a Fern, 4 Rosy Footmen, a Green Carpet, 3 Brown-line Bright-eyes, an Ear sp, a Lesser Swallow Prominent, 2 Coronets, Nutmeg, 2 Straw Underwings, a True-lover’s Knot, Shuttle Shaped Dart, a Common Rustic, a Smoky Wainscot, Straw Dot, Rosy Rustic, and a Reed Dagger was a new species for the Observatory.

A Humming-bird Hawk moth was seen near the pond, and a Wasp Spider was also of note.

Dragon and damselflies included Southern and Migrant Hawker, Ruddy and Common Darter, Black-tailed Skimmer and Banded Demoiselle. Butterflies were numerous despite the lack of sunshine, with 25 Wall Browns, 30 Gatekeepers, a Small Copper, 4 Red Admirals and 2 Speckled Woods recorded.
