Another sunny and hot day with a regular passage of Whimbrel totalling 35 by the end of the afternoon. Eight Spoonbills were on the Broadwater, and a Green and a Great Spotted Woodpecker were seen.
In the moth traps today 3 Least Carpets, 11 Garden Tigers, 12 Scarce Footmen, 3 Rustics, a Common Footman, Haworth’s Pug, 10 Cloaked Minors, 3 Ruby Tigers, 2 Flame Shoulders, a Lesser Broad Bordered Yellow Underwing, 4 Drinkers, a Sharp-angled Peacock, Shaded Broad-bar, 4 Yellow Tails, a Smoky Wainscot, Silver Y, a Rivulet, Pine Hawk moth, Shuttle-shaped Dart, 2 Small Waved Umbers, 2 Large Yellow Underwings, an Oak Eggar, 2 Lyme Grass, a Common Rustic and a Rosy Minor were caught. A Humming-bird Hawk moth was on the buddleia.
Butterflies included Brimstone, Comma, Gatekeeper, Common Blue, Brown Argus, Wall, Peacock and Meadow Brown.
Dragonflies were more numerous again today with Emperor, Southern Hawker, Common Darter, Migrant Hawker, Black-tailed Skimmer and Banded Demoiselle all recorded
