Swallows & Sand Martins Huw Lewis

A flock of 13 Spoonbills were on the Broadwater and another movement of Sand Martins was noted with at least 80 passing through. Four Lesser Whitethroats were on the reserve, and offshore 5 Common Scoters, 2 Fulmars, 9 Gannets, 7 Little Terns, 57 Sandwich Terns and 4 Common Terns were counted, with 5 Kittiwakes also seen.

In the moth traps a Privet Hawk Moth, 2 Broad Bordered Yellow Underwings, a Dingy Footman, 10 Common Footmen, 2 Dark Arches, a Scarce Footman, a Ruby Tiger, Rosy Footman, Smoky Wainscot, Large Yellow Underwing, Early Thorn, Rustic, Brown-line Bright-eye, Mottled Rustic and Lyme Grass were caught.

A few butterflies were on the wing, with Meadow Brown, Gatekeeper, Large White and Red Admiral seen.
