Seawatching today produced 4 Gannets, 41 Sandwich Terns, 2 Common Terns and a Little Tern together with a Med Gull and 12 Curlew. Two Whimbrel flew over calling mid morning and 16 Spoonbills were on the Broadwater. A Grasshopper Warbler was also of interest.
In the moth traps today 4 Scarce Footmen, 18 Common Footmen, 6 Haworth’s Pugs, 4 Rosy Footmen, a Pretty Chalk Carpet, 5 Barred Straws, 2 Sharp-angled Peacocks, a Smoky Wainscot, 5 Uncertains, 4 Heart & Clubs, a Ruby Tiger, a Large Yellow Underwing, Poplar Hawk moth, 2 Kent Black Arches, a Dunbar, 4 Mottled Rustics, 16 Cinnabars, a Bordered White, a Swallowtail, 3 Single Dotted Waves, 5 Dwarf Cream Waves, a Small Emerald, 3 Riband Waves, a Privet Hawk, 2 Lyme Grass, 2 Snout, a Latticed Heath, a Fen Wainscot, a Striped Wainscot, a Dingy Footman and a Willow Ermine were caught.
Ruddy and Common Darter, Black-tailed Skimmer and Broad Bodied Chaser were all recorded.
