Ten Spoonbills were on the Broadwater again today and a second calendar year Little Gull was a surprise nearby, with 4 Stonechats, a reeling Grasshopper Warbler, 2 Lesser Whitethroats and a Great Spotted Woodpecker also of interest.

In the moth traps another broad selection included Clouded Border, 3 Privet Hawks, 14 Cinnagars, 2 Haworth’s Pugs, a Small Magpie, 2 Straw Dots, 4 Heart & Clubs, 3 Uncertains, a Dwarf Cream Wave, 2 Common Footmen, 5 Sand Darts, a Shuttle-shaped Dart, 5 Mottled Rustics, a Flame Wainscot, a Bright-line Brown-eye a Swallowtail, a Lyme Grass, Small Emerald, Single Dotted Wave, 2 Short-cloaked Moths, a Riband Wave, 2 Buff Ermines, a Sharp-angled Peacock, a Pine Hawk moth, Vine’s Rustic, Barred Yellow, Lunar Yellow Underwing, 2 Large Yellow Underwings, a Striped Wainscot, 3 Shore Wainscots, a Light Arches, Rosy Footman, Rustic, Middle-barred Minor, Silky Wainscot, Heart & Dart and a Marsh Pearl.

Black-tailed Skimmer, Four-spot Chaser, Common Blue and Large Red Damselflies were around the pond, and Brown Argus, Ringlet, Meadow Brown and Small Heath butterflies were also seen.
