Eyed Hawk Moth

Another quiet day on the reserve and sadly too windy for ringing. The Spoonbills were still around today and a couple of baby Goldfinch were on the reserve.

In the moth trap today was 1 Bordered White, 8 Cinnabar, 1 Eyed Hawk Moth, 2 Buff Tip, 2 White Ermine, 1 Swallow Prominent, 2 Large Yellow Underwing, 1 Middle Barred Minor, 1 Marbled Minor agg., 2 Mottled Rustic, 1 Spectacle, 1 Light Brown Apple, 1 Willow Beauty, 1 Bramble Shoot Moth, 1 Monopis crocicapitella, 1 Crambus lathoniellus and 1 Teleiopsis diffinis. Other insects on the wing today included 4 Common Blue, 3 Small Heath, 8 Speckled Wood, 1 Broad Bodied Chaser, 2 Blue Tailed and 8 Large Red Damselfly.
