Red-breasted Goose Ben Rackstraw

The Red-breasted Goose was with Brents on the fresh marsh during the morning moving onto the saltmarsh in the afternoon, and a Spoonbill, 3 Cattle Egrets, a Whimbrel, Ruff, Common Sandpiper, 2 Wood Sandpipers, 7 Snipe, 2 Cuckoos, 12 Sand Martins, 18 Swallows, 2 House Martins, 20 Chiffchaffs, 2 Willow Warblers, 10 Blackcaps, 5 Lesser Whitethroats, 15 Whitethroats, 20 Sedge Warblers, 4 Reed Warblers, a female Redstart near the Observatory, 9 Stonechats, 2 Wheatears, 4 Yellow Wagtails and 4 Siskins were noted.

Butterflies included Green Hairstreak, Wall Brown, Orange Tip and Speckled Wood. A Hairy Hawker dragonfly was flying in the shelter of the pines, and in the moth traps a Small Waved Umber, Dark-barred Twin-spot Carpet and Muslin were the only moths caught.
