Emperor Emerging John Stroud

A few migrants arriving today included a Little Ringed Plover dropping in at NWT hide 1, single Sand Martin and Swallow, a Sedge Warbler singing at the Car Park Hide and a Wheatear on the grazing marsh. Also of interest were 66 Black-tailed Godwits, 6 Med Gulls, a Willow Warbler, Blackcap, and a Siskin flying over calling.

In the moth traps 2 Powdered Quakers, 4 Hebrew Characters, 2 Northern Drabs, a Small Quaker, 2 Clouded Drabs and a Red Chestnut were caught. A female Emperor Moth emerged from one of last year’s cocoons and a male was flying near the observatory in the afternoon despite the rough winds.
