Male Merlin Ben Rackstraw

A male Merlin was hunting on the beach between Thornham and Gore Point. Other birds of interest were a female Goldeneye on the Broadwater, a drake Goosander passing west over the pines, and at least 1 Woodcock. On the sea 14 Eider, 9 Common Scoter, a Pintail and 26 Red-breasted Mergansers were counted. A pair of Med Gulls were around the Broadwater and on the grazing marshes 1500+ Golden Plover and 700+ Lapwings were counted. A Kingfisher, 2 Rock Pipits, 4 Stonechats, 4 Bullfinches and a Siskins were also noted.

A Brimstone butterfly and the first Common Toads were also seen.
