A superb day of visual migration. Highlights were 2 Pale-bellied Brent Geese, 300+ Brent Geese, 3 Red-throated Divers, a Manx Shearwater, 80 Gannets, a Bittern, 76 Grey Herons, Jack Snipe, Whimbrel, 2 Pom, 4 Arctic and a Great Skua, 3 Black Terns, 3 Sandwich Terns, 3 Little Gulls, 37 Short-eared Owls in off the sea, 150 Goldcrests, 4 Bearded Tits, 2 Yellow-browed Warblers (1 ringed), 10 Chiffchaffs, a Lesser Whitethroat, Ring Ouzel, Fieldfare, 40+ Song Thrushes, 150+ Redwings, 150+ Robins, Grey Wagtail, 4 Rock Pipits, 25 Bramblings, 5 Bullfinches, 4 Redpolls, 90+ Siskins, a Lapland Bunting, 12 Cattle Egrets, a Ring-necked Parakeet and an Arctic Warbler was trapped and ringed in the afternoon.
In the moth traps a good catch included 22 Large Yellow Underwings, 4 Feathered Ranunculus, 2 Merveille du Jour, 2 Vestal, 22 Large Wainscots, 6 Beaded Chestnuts, a Square-spot Rustic, 14 Lunar Underwings, 3 Setaceous Hebrew Characters, 2 Lesser Yellow Underwings, a Rusty Dot Pearl, and a Red-green Carpet.
