Cattle Egrets and 2 Little Egrets Seamus Francis

On the sea today 243 Common Scoter, 10 Red-throated Divers, 98 Gannets, 17 Great Crested Grebes, 60 Razorbills, 7 Sandwich and 1 Arctic Tern were recorded. A Green Sandpiper and 9 Snipe were on the pools, and the flock of 15 Cattle Egrets was again on the fresh marsh with the whole group flying east towards Thornham Harbour during the afternoon. Also noted were 10 Blackcaps, a Reed Warbler, a Grey Wagtail, 3+ Rock Pipits, 120+ Meadow Pipits and 3 Siskins.

In the moth traps today were a Vine’s Rustic, 21 Large Yellow Underwings, 4 Beaded Chestnuts, 25 Lunar Underwings, a Shuttle-shaped Dart, 3 Square-spot Rustics, 3 Large Wainscots, a Turnip, a Delicate, a Shore Wainscot, a Deep Brown Dart, a Black Rustic, and a Setaceous Hebrew Character.

Butterflies included Small Copper and Wall Brown.
