Pale Mottled Willow

Highlights today were 3 Garganey seen from the car park hide, at sea 18 Common Scoter, 21 Gannets, 3 Great Crested Grebes, 8 Arctic Skuas, a Bonxie, 3 Black Terns, 90 Sandwich and 320 Common Terns, 2 Kittiwakes and a Med Gull. Waders included 14 Whimbrel, a Little Stint, Common and Green Sandpiper, 2 Greenshank and 8 Snipe, with a Lesser Whitethroat, 7 Stonechats and 9 Yellow Wagtails overhead.

In the moth traps today a Dingy Footman, 29 Vine’s Rustics, 5 Smoky Wainscots, 15 White-lined Darts, 32 Archer’s Darts, a Straw Underwing, 23 Turnips, 12 Flounced Rustics, 20 Large Yellow Underwings, 3 Straw Dots, 16 Setaceous Hebrew Characters, 3 Square Spot Rustics, a Rustic, Blood Vein, 4 White Points, a Pale Mottled Willow, a Willow Beauty, Riband Wave, 2 Purple Bars, 2 Yellow Belles, 5 Common Wainscots, a Small Square Spot, Brimstone, Yellow Tail and Frosted Orange were caught.

Butterflies included Gatekeeper, 2 Common Blue, a Small Copper, 11 Red Admirals, 2 Speckled Woods, 3 Wall Browns, 3 Holly Blues, 12 Large Whites, 4 Small Heaths, 5 Small Whites, a Green Veined White, 2 Peacocks and a Comma.

Two Wasp Spiders were still around the Obs pond.
