Osprey – Holme

A flock of 11 Spoonbills were on the beach, with an Osprey passing over west, and 4 Whimbrel also moving together with 52 Curlew. A Bearded Tit was in the reeds and 2 Grasshopper Warblers were showing in the car park during the morning.

In the moth traps today 3 Common Footmen, a Riband Wave, 2 Nutmegs, 3 Smoky Wainscots, 4 Rustics, 4 Dark Arches, a Scarce Footman, 3 Sand Darts, a Heart & Dart, Brown Tail, Light Arches, Clay, 2 Large Yellow Underwings, 2 Mottled Rustics and a Lyme Grass were caught.

Butterflies were abundant with 50+ Small Whites, 4 Large Whites, 10 Commas, 10 Red Admirals, 8 Peacocks, 4 Small Tortoiseshells, a Painted Lady, 30 Small Skipper sp, 2 Small Coppers, 2 Holly Blues, 2 Brown Argus, 150+ Meadow Browns, 100+ Gatekeepers, a Ringlet and 5 Small Heaths.

Dragonflies were Ruddy and Common Darters, with 5 Black-tailed Skimmers and 4 Emperors also seen.
