Highlights today were a family of 5 Grey Herons, 2 Spoonbills, a Great White Egret, 26 Curlew, a Little Tern and 20 Sandwich Terns passing offshore, a Bearded Tit, Willow Warbler, a family of at least 5 Stonechats in the dunes, and a Treecreeper in the pines.
In the moth traps today 2 Lime-speck Pugs, a Lilac Beauty, 9 Common Footmen, 2 Sharp-angled Peacocks, 8 Cinnabars, Smoky Wainscot, 2 Common Emeralds, 10 Uncertains, 4 Rustics, 4 Dwarf Cream Waves, a Single Dotted Wave, 4 Dark Arches, 2 Willow Beauties, a Clay, Small Fan-footed Wave, 3 Turnips, a Dog’s Tooth, 2 Barred Yellows, a Buff Ermine, 2 Setaceous Hebrew Characters, 3 Heart & Darts, 6 Scarce Footmen, a Common Swift, 4 Sand Darts, a Barred Straw, Cloaked Minor, Gold Triangle, 2 Large Yellow Underwings, 10 Mottled Rustics, a Small Magpie, Haworth’s Pug, Buff Tip, Rosy Wave, Brown Rustic, Smoky Wainscot, Lappet, Least Carpet, 2 Riband Waves, 2 Heart & Clubs, a Shoulder-striped Wainscot and a Small Emerald.
Butterflies were scarcer today with little sunshine, but 15 Meadow Browns, 2 Ringlets, a Gatekeeper, Brown Argus, Red Admiral and 2 Common Darters were also noted.
