GREEN SAND 1 REDWELL

Highlights today were a Great White Egret, Spoonbill flying east towards Thornham Harbour, 4 Little Ringed Plovers, 2 Green Sandpipers, a Little Tern, 46 Sandwich Terns and 2 Common Terns, Cuckoo, Barn Owl, a Bearded Tit near the Car Park Hide, 3 Lesser Whitethroats and 2 Stonechats.

In the moth traps a Shoulder-striped Wainscot, Small Blood-vein, Pyrausta aurata, 3 Marbled Orchard Tortrix, 6 Lozotaenoides formosanus, Crambus lathoniellus, 2 Haworth’s Pugs, 4 Dark Arches, 4 Common Swifts, 4 Sand Darts, 26 Garden Grass Veneers, 3 Heart & Darts, 2 Barred Yellows, an Uncertain, 12 Large Yellow Underwings, 1 Monopis obviella, 1 Clepsis consimilana, 3 Agapeta hamana, 1 Cochylis atricapitana, 1 Scoparia ambigualis, 2 Piniphila bifasciana, 1 Catoptria falsella, 5 Middle-barred Minors, 1 Turnip, 1 Bordered White, 2 Cinnabars, 1 Cloaked Minor, 2 Anerastia lotella, a Flame Wainscot, a Barred Straw, a Green Oak Tortrix, Common Footman, Bramble Shoot Moth, Lyme Grass, Flame Shoulder, Smoky Wainscot, 2 Striped Wainscots, Light Brown Apple Moth, Nutmeg, Poplar Grey, Eudonia pallida, Dark Fruit-tree Tortrix, Homoeosoma sinuella, Hedya salicella, Celypha rosaceana, Celypha striana, Zeiraphera insertana and Water-mint Conch were the sum total of moths caught.

A Hairy Hawker, 2 Common Darters, 4 Large Red Damselflies, 2 Azure Damselflies, 2 Ringlets, 2 Small Heaths, 2 Red Admirals, 10 Small Whites and 25 Meadow Browns were also noted.
